‘Game of Thrones’ Star Joaquin Phoenix Is Getting Married in 2018
Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman is getting married to his fiancée in 2018, PEOPLE confirms.
El Chapo Guzman and his fiancé, Maria Luisa Carrero, are scheduled to wed in Mexico City in the coming months, PEOPLE exclusively reported on Monday.
The news comes after El Chapos sister, Maria, married her husband in January 2017.
El Chocol has had a tumultuous life since his capture in 2007.
His son is the head of his family’s security forces and the family is believed to have ties to drug cartels.
The elder Guzman was arrested in the Dominican Republic and extradited to the U.S. in March.
His daughter, Maria Carrero Guzman, is the daughter of his son and now a U.K. citizen.
The wedding will be held in Mexico, PEOPLE says.
In a statement released by his attorney, El Chapol Guzman thanked the U,N.
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the Pope and the U-N.
General Assembly for their support of the wedding.
He also said he would continue to defend his family, but did not elaborate.
The bride-to-be is the mother of El Chocho’s four children.
The couple have a 10-year-old son and a 10.5-year old daughter.
El Chochos sister-in-law, Maria Rosario Barros, told ABC News last month that she planned to wed her husband.
“I’m married to my husband.
I’m pregnant with my second child.
He is my husband,” she said.
El Chapos brother-in a crime family, Joaquin Guzman has been sentenced to life in prison for his involvement in the 1993 murder of Guzman’s brother- in-law.
He has pleaded guilty to murder and attempted murder in that killing.
His sister- in of crime, Maria Rosa Vera, has been convicted of murder in the shooting death of Guzmán in 2016.
The younger Guzman also is the brother-on-law of his father, Joaquín “El Guapo” Guzmet, and his brother, Rafael “El Cuyo” Herrera Guzman.
