Former Olympian has cancer diagnosis – Corriere Dello Sport
Corrière dello Sport reported that Corrièdei Sport, a French sport channel, reported that a former Olympian, who was a member of the Spanish team, has contracted cancer.
It was not clear what type of cancer it was.
The channel said the athlete, named only as Antonio, is being treated in hospital.
Corrié Dello Sport said it is not yet clear how long the athlete will be in hospital, but the network said that Antonio will be released from hospital “in the coming days”.
Corriée dello Spor said it was not immediately clear how Antonio will perform at his hospitalisation.
Correia Sport, an Italian sport channel said on Twitter it had received a message from Antonio confirming that he has tested positive for cancer.
The tweet said: “Allegations of the former Olympia and Corrië delloSport athlete Antonio Corriò are true.
The athlete is in hospital and he is undergoing treatment.”
Corri e Sport, another Italian sport network, said it had not received any information from Antonio regarding his cancer diagnosis.
A spokesperson for Correi Sport told Reuters the athlete was not at risk of having cancer.
Corridores Sport, the Spanish sports channel, said that the news had been reported to the authorities and that the athlete had tested positive.
The Spanish authorities are investigating the incident.
In a statement, the Corriera Sport said: The Spanish health authorities have been informed.
Correcis Sport, which was founded by Spanish footballer Javier Mascherano, said: There is no indication that the information has any relation to any health conditions or medical procedures.
The statement added that the Spaniards health minister had called for the athletes to undergo tests.
Spain’s Sports Minister Jose Manuel García-Margallo also announced the death of the athlete.
Spain has not yet confirmed the diagnosis of the man, but sports authorities said he had been diagnosed with cancer.
According to Corriertos report, Antonio had been a member at the age of 17 of a team that won the silver medal in the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
He said he won the bronze medal at the same event, and then took part in the 2008 European Championships in Rome.
He also won the world championship in the women’s event in 2002 and the men’s at the 2007 European Championships.
The Italian sport federation said it will look into the situation and will ask the athlete’s family for more information.
